So many fans of the Stranger Things Netflix Series are spreading hatred against the show on TikTok, Twitter, and other social platforms. Surprisingly it is all because of one otherwise favorite cast from the series, Eddie Munson aka Joseph Quinn.
Joseph Quinn seemed an outcast Eddie in the show’s 4th season. He is one of the season’s best
highlights and it felt like everyone granted him as part of the show in the fourth
season of the series. Sadly, for some reason, some fans are arising to
“gatekeep” the fandom over Eddie Munson’s fame. This was clarified by Rolling
Stone as they research many TikTok profiles that’ve been abnormally
commenting on Eddie Munson or his fans. Since the release of
season four, many fans are sharing videos on the TikTok platform, mostly concentrated
on the cast of Eddie Munson in the form of lip-syncs, copycat mullets, and even
tattoos. Aside from that, there are numerous edits on social media platforms. A
Stranger Things series fan Naomie Lapointe mentioned some negative
and hateful comments on her cosplay video. She dressed as Stranger Things Cast
Steve Harrington while a group of fans dressed as Stranger Things Cast Eddie
Munson surrounded her. Talking about the hate and negative comments she said:
“There are so many of
the comments, I got were about how the ‘newbie fans’ were ruining the Stranger
Things Series, or how ‘cosplay is so cringing,’ as if stranger things fans of
all kinds of media haven’t been cosplaying for decades,” Naomie told Rolling
Stone. “It disheartens me a little bit if I’m honest. While I knew that I was
in the right and that they were being offensive and bitter for no other good
reason, the constant not positive attention made me really uncomfortable.”One of the creators dedicated a song to Eddie Munson. It's titled “Eddie’s Song,” it includes the
lyrics of “Eddie baby”, “I just saw Steve”, “He’s crying his eyes out with
Dustin”, and “They’re playing D & D,” in its first refrain. Evidently, this is
where the negativity and hate for Eddie Munson fans began. Then following the release of one of the songs dedicated to Eddie Munson on Spotify, unfortunately, the creator turned the comments off on all her “Eddie Baby ” related content.
“I’m disappointed and
sorry but I miss old stranger things fans right now,” one comment on an Eddie
Munson video read. and another one commented 'He was there for just one season. Unfortunately, Those comments alone were liked 150,000 times that’s
surprising.
